Summary:
The Senior Reliability Quality Engineer (RQE) is a highly visible role in Brunswick Boat Group's (BBG) Quality organization, would report into the Quality VP for the Boat Group and be integral in driving Overall product reliability across BBG. He/ She understands the principles of performance evaluation and prediction to improve product/systems safety, reliability, and maintainability. His / Her expertise include, but are not limited to, design review and control; prediction, estimation, and apportionment methodology; failure mode and effects analysis; the planning, operation, and analysis of reliability testing and field failures, including mathematical modeling; understanding human factors in reliability; and the ability to develop and administer reliability information systems for failure analysis, design, and performance improvement and reliability program management over the entire product life cycle. Responsible for independently delivering design for Reliability (DFR) in collaboration with Engineering for HPPD without impacting schedule. Responsible to influence the design and bring in novel ideas to not only mitigate reliability risks but also aid to optimize the product performance. Responsible for planning & conducting reliability life testing and leveraging BBG internal test labs and external agencies as appropriate. Arrests warranty defects through optimized Burn-in strategies in close collaboration with respective plants and drives problem solving methods within the organization such as FRACAS / Shainin Red X in the new product development &/or existing product engineering Key
Responsibilities:
Drives initiatives to deploy the risk mitigation within the organization including deploying the problem-solving methods in the new product development and/or existing product improvements in the cross functional team Work with cross functional team as well as global engineering team for designing in reliability on NPD programs modifications & warranty reduction programs. Thus, responsible for identifying, managing, and mitigating reliability risks. Create and/or revise Reliability deliverables such as Reliability Program Plan, Reliability Predictions, Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA), Highly Accelerated Life Test (HALT), Reliability Demonstration Test (RDT) for new product development programs. Utilize Test Lab Infrastructure, Prelaunch process & DFSS concepts/tools such as DOE, Hypothesis testing, DFR scorecard for risk assessment as applicable. Drives physics-based life modelling and validating life models in test labs Planning project milestones, executing milestones and hours, conducting deliverables reviews, communication with stakeholder and on-job development through technical mentoring. Guide the product teams in following standard Design for Reliability activities required in different gate stages of NPI according to the standard NPI process. Lead / take part in discussions with multiple stakeholders in order to understand the product requirements and setting the reliability targets for measurements during the development lifecycle and identify the roadblocks if there is potential risk for not meeting the goal. Qualifications:
Good knowledge in Basics of Mechanics (Vibration, Thermal, Thermo-Mechanical, Electro-Mechanical, etc.) and testing knowledge with the same, Good knowledge in Field load calculations, Failure Analysis, Risk Assessments are expected Good knowledge on product validation methods regarding lifetime requirement Validation design based on targeted failure modes:
FMEA & DRBFM techniques Experience in failure analysis of the product and root cause analysis methods, especially methodical problem-solving approach 8D, CAR, FTA desired Experience in Project Management, Test coordination and customer handling etc. Proficiency in DfR process like reliability modeling, goal setting, allocation, prediction, demonstration (life data analysis, growth plots & ALT) Knowledge in FRACAS and reducing field/warranty data into relevant life and failure rate information. Experience with any industry proven reliability analysis suite of tools, R software & Reliasoft , Minitab preferred. Data analysis & reporting (especially proficient in Excel) Minimum
Experience:
8-10 years of Industry experience (Automotive, Industrial, Marine, others) Education & Skills:
Bachelor's degree in either Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics or industrial Engineering Formal Six Sigma Training; ASQ certifications desired:
CRE, CSSBB Travel Required:

Salary Range:
$80K -- $100K
